Ingredients

For The Basic Batter

  • 3 cups rice
  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 1 tsp salt

Method

  1. Soak the rice and the dat for few hours and grind it with the required quantity of salt so as to form a loose batter.
  2. Leave the batter aside for a few hours to ferment.
  3. Spread one spoonful of batter on greased Lava as thinly as possible. Pour 1 teaspoon oil over its edges. When the base is crisp and golden brown, turn over and cook the other side. Repeat with the rest of the batter.
  4. Serve hot dosas with chutney or sambhar or sauce.
  5. Any filling can be used to make masala dosa.
