Basic Idli Batter

Ingredients

  • 3 cups idli rawa or 3 cups boiled rice
  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 1 tsp salt

Method

    1. Clean and soak the rawa for 2 hours. If boiled rice is used, soak it for 2 hours and grind it to a smooth batter, preferably in the grinder.
    2. Soak the dal for 1 hour and grind it to a smooth batter.
    3. Now mix the idli rawa or the batter, the urad dal batter and the salt till well combined. Leave it overnight.
