Lemony Dal

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup tur or moong or masoor dal
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 tsp lime juice

For Seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp mustard and cumin seeds
  • 2 red chilies, broken into pieces
  • 1 tsp curry leaves

Method

  1. Pressure cook the dal along with the turmeric powder, asafoetida, salt and coriander leaves.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the seasoning ingredients.
  3. Stir in the cooked dal and cook for a few minutes.
  4. When slightly cool, add the lime juice, mix the contents thoroughly.
  5. Serve with rice or chapatti.
