Prawn Pullao

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 100 gm prawns, shelled and deveined
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 red chills
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 3 flakes garlic
  • 2 tsp tamarind pulp
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp oil

Method

    1. Boil prawns with half the quantity of salt till tender and dry. Chop into pieces.
    2. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and fry the onions. Drain.
    3. Roast and powder the red chilies, sesame and poppy seeds
    4. Grind the onions, garlic and tamarind to a fine paste.
    5. Wash and soak the rice for an hour. Cook till tender with the remaining quantity of salt.
    6. Heat the remaining quantity of oil in a pan and fry the prawns.
    7. Add the roasted powder, ground pate, garam masala powder and the cooked rice. Mix the contents thoroughly and cook for a few more minutes.
    8. 8, Garnish the prawn pullao with the fried onion slices and serve hot.
