Prawn Pullao
Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 100 gm prawns, shelled and deveined
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 red chills
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
- 3 flakes garlic
- 2 tsp tamarind pulp
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp oil
Method
- Boil prawns with half the quantity of salt till tender and dry. Chop into pieces.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and fry the onions. Drain.
- Roast and powder the red chilies, sesame and poppy seeds
- Grind the onions, garlic and tamarind to a fine paste.
- Wash and soak the rice for an hour. Cook till tender with the remaining quantity of salt.
- Heat the remaining quantity of oil in a pan and fry the prawns.
- Add the roasted powder, ground pate, garam masala powder and the cooked rice. Mix the contents thoroughly and cook for a few more minutes.
- 8, Garnish the prawn pullao with the fried onion slices and serve hot.
