Pongal

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup moong dal
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp pepper powder
  • 2 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • I tsp cashewnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For Seasoning

  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp urad dal
  • 1 tsp curry leaves
  • 2 green chilies, chopped

Method

    1. Soak the fenugreek seeds overnight.
    2. Heat ghee and fry the seasoning ingredients
    3. Add chopped cashewnuts and fry.
    4. Now add the rice, dal, fenugreek seeds with cumin, pepper powder, salt and two cups of water. Cook till the contents are tender and dry.
    5. Serve with curd spooned over it.
