Pongal
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rice
- 1/2 cup moong dal
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp pepper powder
- 2 tsp fenugreek seeds
- I tsp cashewnuts, chopped
- 1/4 tsp salt
For Seasoning
- 2 tsp ghee
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp curry leaves
- 2 green chilies, chopped
Method
- Soak the fenugreek seeds overnight.
- Heat ghee and fry the seasoning ingredients
- Add chopped cashewnuts and fry.
- Now add the rice, dal, fenugreek seeds with cumin, pepper powder, salt and two cups of water. Cook till the contents are tender and dry.
- Serve with curd spooned over it.
