Bitter Prawn Curry

Ingredients

  • 100 gm prawns, shelled and deveined
  • 1 bitter gourd
  • 1/2 tsp chili or sambhar powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • For Seasoning
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp cumin and mustard seeds

Method

    1. Boil the prawns with half the quantity of salt till tender and dry.
    2. Wash, peel and cut the bitter gourd vertically and scoop out the seeds. Cut each half into 1 inch pieces. Boil the pieces with the remaining quantity of salt till tender.
    3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the seasoning ingredients.
    4. Stir in the prawns and fry.
    5. Add cooked bitter gourd, chili or sambhar powder and the garam masala powder. Mix the contents thoroughly and cook for a few minutes.
    6. Serve with rice or chapatti.
