Prawn Sambhar

Ingredients

  • 100 gm prawns shelled and deveined
  • 1 cup tamarind juice
  • 1/2 cup tur dal
  • 1 tsp sambhar powder
  • 1 tsp coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp mint paste
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For Seasoning

  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin and mustard seeds
  • 1 red chili, broken into pieces

Method

    1. Boil prawns with half the quantity of salt till tender and dry. Cut each prawn into two pieces.
    2. Heat oil in a 2 liter cooker and fry the seasoning ingredients
    3. Stir in the prawn and fry.
    4. Add the dal, tamarind juice, sambhar powder, coriander leaves, and mint paste along with a little quantity of water and the remaining salt and pressure cook.
    5. Serve hot prawn sambhar with rice or chapatti.
