Bitter Gourd Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sized bottle gourds
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 2 green chills
  • 2 tsp coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp mint leaves
  • 1/2 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 flakes garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp oil

Method

  1. Wash, peel and cut each bitter gourd into two halves.
  2. Grind the tomatoes, onion, green chilies, coriander and mint leaves, ginger and garlic to a fine paste.
  3. Roast the poppy and the sesame seeds. Powder it.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and stir in the ground paste and fry.
  5. Now stir in the bitter gourd pieces, salt and the roasted powder.
  6. Cover the pan with the lid and with constant stirring, cook on slow fire till the vegetable is tender.
